Join YAG as we mark the 250th birthday of Jane Austen with this stage adaptation of her 1813 novel. Our story follows the five Bennet sisters, their family, and Regency era society of rural England. The inheritance of their father’s country estate, Longbourne, is destined for the closest male heir, a distant cousin. Therefore, at least one of the Bennet sisters must marry quite well in order to house and support the other young ladies in the future. The witty second daughter, Elizabeth Bennet, initially encounters the wealthy and aloof Mr. Darcy at a public assembly. Each dislikes the other immediately upon this first meeting. However, over the course of a calendar year, through misunderstandings, and quite a lot of personal growth, they may each move beyond their pride and prejudice to find love.
